Campaign will establish regional Music Declares Emergency action hubs in partnership with Music Venue Trust

Music Declares Emergency have announced ‘HOPE OVER FEAR’, a new campaign that will see the music and climate charity build on their work with their NO MUSIC ON A DEAD PLANET Movement to establish regional climate hubs across the UK.

Artists including IDLES, Declan McKenna, Bimini, Enter Shikari, Yard Act, Sleaford Mods, Beth Orton, The Pogues, John Grant, Goat Girl, Floating Points, Jasmine 4.t, Editors and The Anchoress will join with the charity to promote the launch by wearing one of three campaign t-shirts and sharing messages of hope with their fans throughout November.

Each hub will bring fans, artists, and organisers together to create, collaborate, and take action — from gigs and workshops to local organising.

The project sees the charity partner with Music Venue Trust, with hubs working alongside MVT’s network of grassroots venues, creating spaces to gather and take part in local, community regeneration.

The campaign is spearheaded by three new designs from Anthony Burrill, the designer of the now iconic NO MUSIC ON A DEAD PLANET artwork that has been seen by over 500m music fans worldwide. Profits from the sale of these t-shirts will directly fund the creation and maintenance of the groups across the UK & Ireland.

Each tee is printed on organic cotton and made to order by charity merch provider Teemill.

Lewis Jamieson, CEO of Music Declares Emergency said:Five years since our launch of NO MUSIC ON A DEAD PLANET, a slogan that has come to encapsulate the commitment of artists, music businesses and fans to making a positive contribution to acting on the climate emergency, we felt it was time to bring a new message. By bringing our message into towns and cities across the UK through the amazing grassroots venues that are the starting point for so many musical journeys and the creative hubs that underpin UK music,we will strengthen the bonds between music fans, music promoters, and artists who are committed to making a positive difference in their communities. In doing so, we will build a roadmap from declaring an emergency to creating the alternative.

Mark Davyd, CEO of The Music Venue Trust said: Like Music Declares Emergency, Music Venue Trust believes in the transformative power of music to improve our towns and cities, and projects like the Grassroots Levy and Own Our Venues are designed to ensure that live music continues to play a central role in our towns, cities, and our national identity.Grassroots Music Venues are a fundamental part of their communities and play a key role in bringing people together through music. They offer spaces to young people to become the artists and music professionals of the future. By partnering with Music Declares Emergency for HOPE OVER FEAR, we aim for those venues to be at the centre of an initiative that offers spaces for innovation, discussion and collaboration and celebrates the cultural power of music to bring positive change for the benefit of everyone.

HOPE OVER FEAR launched on November 10th, 2025.

About Music Venue Trust

Music Venue Trust is a UK registered charity which acts to protect, secure, and improve the UK's Grassroots Music Venues.Created in January 2014, Music Venue Trust aims to secure and protect the long-term future of GMVs in England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, whether they are iconic venues such as Hull Adelphi, Exeter Cavern, The 100 Club, Band on the Wall, King Tut’s, and Clwb Ifor Bach, or lesser-known venues that are equally important to their geographical or musical community. These venues play a crucial role in the development of British music, nurturing local talent, providing a platform for artists to build their careers and develop their music and their performance skills.MVT works to gain recognition of the essential role these venues fulfil, not only for artist development but also for the cultural and music industries, the economy, and local communities. The geographical spread of GMVs provides access to live music, for both performers and audience members, in many locations that do not have alternative cultural venues. The charity provides advice to the government, the cultural sector, and the music industry on issues impacting GMVs and is the nominated representative that speaks on behalf of the Music Venues Alliance, an association of venues from across the UK.
