UK Songwriter John Rhodes Drops New Rock Single ‘Get Me There’ Featuring Darren James Smith

British songwriter John Rhodes continues to carve his path in the rock world with the release of his latest single ‘Get Me There’, featuring powerhouse vocals from Darren James Smith—renowned Canadian singer and drummer, best known for his work with Harem Scarem and Red Dragon Cartel.

This marks the third release in a series of singles from Rhodes, following on from the emotionally charged ‘Never Find Love’ and the gritty ‘Badlands’. With ‘Get Me There,’ Rhodes blends soaring melodies with raw, guitar-driven energy, complemented perfectly by Smith’s unmistakable vocal style. Smith’s rock credentials include a Grammy nomination for his vocal performance on Red Dragon Cartel’s High Wire album, making him a fitting collaborator for this bold release.

“This song is about holding on to hope when everything around you feels like it’s falling apart,” says Rhodes. “It’s about pushing through the chaos to reach that one thing or person that keeps you going. Darren brought exactly the kind of intensity I wanted to capture.” - John Rhodes

A lifelong musician, Rhodes began writing and performing at 13, honing his craft through classical guitar training at Trinity College of Music. He even made an early TV appearance on Junior Showtime at Yorkshire Television Studios. Since then, he’s spent years playing in bands, fusing original material with covers and drawing influence from rock legends like The Eagles, Peter Gabriel, Foreigner, and Phil Collins, as well as modern icons like Adele and Rag’n’Bone Man.

Now working with acclaimed international guitarist and producer Mike Krompass, Rhodes has taken his homegrown sound to the next level—recording a series of singles and an upcoming EP in a full studio setting. The project features guest vocals from his daughter Stacey Rhodes and singer Dan Taylor, delivering a diverse blend of rock, blues, and emotive ballads that showcase his range as both a writer and a storyteller.

‘Get Me There’ is available now on all major platforms.
