Cult 80s psych/punks Your Heterosexual Violence are proud to release their new single ‘I Could Be With You’, which is out now on all good streaming services.

Commenting on the track, front man Brian O’Brien says: “‘I Could Be With You’ is a love song lamenting a lost lover and a town I loved and missed so well—home of the mighty Alex, the railway town in the North West of England: Crewe, Cheshire. This song, most unusually for us, actually has a happy ending.”

The track is the latest to be taken from their new album Some People Have Too Much To Say, out now on Trapped Animal Records.

Recorded at Press Play Studios in South London, Some People Have Too Much To Say was produced by Andy Ramsay (Stereolab). The result is a collection that feels both vintage and violently present—a fuzzy, swaggering patchwork of lo-fi psych, punk screeds, mutant disco, and post-punk poetry.

Released in collaboration with Trapped Animal Records (The Baby Seals, Grrrl Gang, Jemma Freeman & The Cosmic Something) via their exciting new sublabel, Unfriendly Dog Records, the album is available on all formats, including traditional black and limited turquoise vinyl edition.

Your Heterosexual Violence announced their resurrection in style earlier this summer with lead single ‘House Outside The World’—a radio-friendly slice of 21st century psych/punk philosophy that you can sing along and dance to, or maybe just have a listen with a cup of tea and contemplate the nature of existence.

The record has so far picked up a swathe of praise from Mike Watt (Minutemen, The Stooges), Louder Than War, The Punk Site, KEXP, John Kennedy at Radio X, Mickey Bradley (The Undertones) at BBC Ulster, Amazing Radio, Total Rock, Resonance FM and more.

More information:
Formed in Woolwich in 1982 at the chaotic intersection of punk, post-punk, and political theatre, Your Heterosexual Violence’s early years were marked by an uncompromising DIY ethos, manic performances, and a volatile sound that veered between punk fizz and cosmic jazz meltdowns, sometimes within the same track.

Their mythology includes support slots with The Poison Girls, Alternative TV, Five Go Down To The Sea, Bogshed, The Three Johns, and The June Brides, not to mention a strange but now legendary appearance on a compilation alongside Sonic Youth and The Nightingales.

Their evolving sound—post-punk with jagged edges, left turns into punk jazz, and a fiercely DIY spirit—earned them mentions in NME, Time Out, The Guardian, and even an unlikely appearance in Smash Hits.

After imploding in 1988, the band lay dormant until reforming just before the pandemic. Now, with a revitalised line-up featuring Simon Birch on Hammond and the addition of glam-punk powerhouse Jemma Freeman on bass and vocals, the band have found fresh momentum and are ready to release their most ambitious and anticipated record to date.
