Berlin-based shadow-pop duo Bad Hammer have shared new single ‘Everyday’, an entrancing lament centred around the death of a loved one. Bad Hammer blend melancholic melodies with poignant guitar riffs, meandering along warm synth pads and subtly driving drum beats that create an atmospheric and cinematic experience for the listener.

Of their new single, Bad Hammer say:

“‘Everyday’ was written and recorded in one night in an atmosphere of grief after the sudden death of a loved one and it carries the immediate darkness we experienced in that moment.”

Close-ups of nostalgia and sensation inspire Bad Hammer's timeless pop songs. With backgrounds in both music and visual arts, the duos’ passion for songwriting is accompanied by a strong sense and expression for the visual side of their music. They have produced a music video for every song they have released so far.

For the self-made video for ‘Everyday’, the band had plaster casts of their heads made, reminiscent of Ingmar Bergman´s Det sjunde inseglet(The Seventh Seal), ancient statues and death masks. Their memento mori portraits are juxtaposed with glossy footage of the band playing live.

Bad Hammer are Lisa Klinkhammer and Johannes Badzura. In 2019, they released their debut EP, Extended Play (Doom Chakra Tapes and ITIS!), which was followed up in 2020 with the release of ‘Mystified’, a single for which they made and released their own perfume. The duo has toured extensively throughout Europe, including a run of shows opening for DIY phenom Molly Nilsson, as well as opening for like-minded artists including Sean Nicholas Savage, Jaakko Eino Kalevi, Anemone and more. In 2022, they plan to release their debut album via their own imprint, Italian Island (ITIS!).
