Leeds indie-pop quartet ‘Enfers’ bounced into the scene in April earlier this year, and have now released their debut EP ‘Come When They Call Labour’.
Following three contrasting yet capturing singles, two of which are featured on the new offering, Enfers, recorded the EP in the heart of Leeds, skipping between the walls of Leeds Conservatoire and home-based recording set-ups. With the previous singles all residing somewhere along the spectrum between commercial pop and indie rock, the EP continues the trend whilst capturing the classic ‘Enfers’ style.
New tracks ‘The Circuit’ and ‘Heaven In A Wildflower’ are both electric tracks, with rich melodies and distinct inspirations that are poetically laid out within the lyrics. ‘The Circuit’ focuses on the local music industry and the journey that many artists may relate to when working and creating within cultural groups and scenes. Its upbeat nature and bouncing guitar and drum lines add a somewhat fun and inspiring take on the tricky conversations that happen for many musicians that start out within their local scene and struggle to step out of the ‘needle in a haystack’ phase of their career.
Originally devised by singer and pianist Sam Donley, ‘Come When They Call Labour’ is a love story inspired by both Sam and Jonny’s teen and early twenties experiences. The newer tracks featured on the EP reflect the band’s observations of their local music scene, and their own personal relationships surrounding them.

Sam Donley on ‘Come When They Call Labour’:
“Our debut EP is a collection of songs that encompass many of the ideas, lyrics and melodies that we've been gathering and holding onto for a while now. Some songs stem from ideas that were written years ago, whilst others were written only very recently. In many ways, the tracks which we chose for the EP are the ones that most represent the journey from when we first formed the band to where we are now. Each one is quite different to the next but all of them live somewhere along the spectrum between commercial pop and indie rock.”
“The Leeds-based, contemporary pop-rock outfit are now here to redefine guitar music as we know it in the modern age” – Record Weekly
"The third single from the Leeds four-piece looks set to continue building the buzz for the upcoming EP as it strives to redefine the guitar-based model into something much grander and all-encompassing. All I can say is that I wish for it to encompass me forever.” – Dead Good Blog
“So far, the Leeds-based band have released three singles; and they surprise me every time by bringing something new and exciting to their listeners. They have a skill for keeping their audience intrigued and engaged; this is the key to their music and the reason why they will be greeted with success” – Conversations With Keiko
