On-U Sound present a new visualiser video for ‘Safe From Harm’ by Horace Andy. The video is directed by Yannick Reid (Koffee, Protoje, Popcaan) and follows Horace through a metal working shop as he begins to sharpen a signature Jamaican weapon, his cutlass. The video gives a new visual meaning to the lyrics from ‘Safe From Harm’, the third single to be taken from the forthcoming album Midnight Rocker, out 8th April on On-U Sound. Outside of reggae circles, Horace Andy is perhaps best known for his guest vocals for Massive Attack, having appeared on all their studio albums to date and a stalwart of their touring line-up. The classic "Safe From Harm" was voiced by Shara Nelson on their debut album Blue Lines, but here Horace and producer Adrian Sherwood take it in a strictly dubwise direction. Andy's soulful vocals glide over a backing of reverbed snare hits, swooping synths, subtle strings and a skanking offbeat piano line. A great reggaefied twist on a much-loved song. Midnight Rocker has been approached in a similar fashion to the late-career quality that Sherwood coaxed out of Lee "Scratch" Perry with the Rainford and Heavy Rain albums, assembling a crack team of players and spending many months perfecting performance, arrangements and mixing. The result is 11 remarkable tracks that sparkle with superb musicianship, carefully crafted production and some truly beautiful vocals from Andy. Horace Andy will perform live in London as part of ‘Pay It All Back Revisited’, a 40th anniversary celebration of On-U Sound featuring Horace Andy, Tackhead, Mark Stewart, African Head Charge, Creation Rebel, Adrian Sherwood, and more.
