Archie Sagers shares dreamy krautrock inspired new single ‘Fistral’

Following the announcement of his new album Dreams Along The Shore, releasing September 12th on his indie label Crafting Room Recordings (ELLiS D, Ideal Living, Maximilian), Archie offers ‘Fistral’ from his new body of work.

Produced by Matthew Gleeson (of Welly) and recorded in a marathon session at Sussex Studio A, this new single finds Archie leaning into the heavier side of his sound with a tight-knit lock groove undercutting the second half of the song. Inspired by dreams of the beach from his childhood, gloomy and deserted, the track utilises darker instrumentation to convey the eerie atmosphere. On this new single Archie says:

‘Fistral is named after the UK’s premier surfing beach in Newquay (Cornwall) where I spent a lot of time with my family when growing up. I found myself returning in dreams to the beach at night and on my own. I wrote the song inspired by those dreams and that strange haunting feeling of returning to a place from your past that has forever changed. That unnerving feeling inspired the darker and heavier instrumentation; I tried to capture that effect with the bass VI arpeggio that starts the song. In reality the beach is much the same as ever, but I no longer feel as connected to it - more like a tourist in somewhere I used to belong.’

Fistral features:

Archie Sagers - Vocals and Additional Instruments

Luke J Barret - Bass

Noah Bramley (Ahno) - Guitar

James Ely (ladylike) - Drums

Jasmine Merriman - Backing Vocals

Matthew Gleeson (Welly) - Saxophone and Production

Dreams Along The Shore’ is the 2nd album from Archie. Self-produced, with production on two songs coming from Matthew Gleeson (Welly), the album takes inspiration from beaches in Cornwall. The latter half of the tracklisting derives its name from the Newquay coastline. Conjuring up nostalgia-laden memories, these beaches are where Archie spent many summers having picnics with his grandparents, surfing with friends and walking late at night. Despite growing and drifting from those close to him, the beach remained a constant. The album aims to express those memories, a longing to return while also showing appreciation for what’s changed.

In addition to creating music, Archie runs the not-for-profit Brighton based record label Crafting Room Recordings. The label features artists such as: ELLiS D, Ideal Living, Soft Top, Maximilian, Wine Pride, Hualun and many more. It prides itself on paying artists fairly whilst supporting local charities.
