"Dreams and Falls": Organoclorados Releases Album Blending Depth and Melody
Brazilian band Organoclorados has released their long-awaited album, Dreams and Falls, now available on digital platforms. Featuring ten original songs and two bonus tracks, the album delivers a dense and powerful sound, blending post-punk, gothic, hard rock, psychedelia, blues, and elements of Brazilian music. Its release follows a year-long buildup, with six singles unveiling different facets of the band's evolving sonic identity.
A significant milestone in Organoclorados' history, Dreams and Falls was crafted to incorporate songs originally written in English. Artur W, a former English teacher who briefly lived in Canada, developed these versions alongside language consultants Matthew Carmo and Maria Eunice Bahia. The lyrics explore the intersection of fantasy and reality, offering a critical and emotional perspective on the world and human experience.
With sophisticated arrangements and striking instrumental passages, the album synthesizes a unique sonic identity—balancing heaviness and melody, dreams and collapse. Immersive atmospheres, memorable riffs, and hypnotic beats pull listeners into a deep, layered experience. As with their debut album, the band was heavily involved in the mixing process, applying a specific mastering approach distinct from that used in their singles and Portuguese versions. Attention to detail, openness to experimentation, and a relentless pursuit of perfection shape each track to fit the album’s overarching concept.
A key visual element of Dreams and Falls is its album cover art, an adaptation of Panteón by August Urrutia i Roldán, featuring a sculpture of the fallen angel by Josep Campeny i Santamaria (1858–1922), located at Montjuïc Cemetery in Barcelona. The imagery and aesthetics connect directly to the album’s title and thematic flow.
A Legacy of Music and Evolution
Founded in November 1985, Organoclorados began as a partnership between two Agronomic Engineering students in Bahia, who started writing songs together. The band's lineup solidified in 1990, with Artur W (vocals, guitars, and acoustic guitars), André G (bass), Joir Rocha (drums and percussion), and Roger Silva (keyboards and backing vocals).
Known for blending melancholy with danceable energy, Organoclorados explores vintage sounds and contemporary textures, continuing to establish itself as one of Brazil’s most authentic alternative bands. Dreams and Falls marks their fifth album, adding to their catalog of two EPs, two DVDs, and an independently produced card drive.
