FLOYA Return with Genre-Bending New Single “In Fiction”
– A Collaborative First Featuring AIRPORTS and Grumble Bee
Following the critically acclaimed debut album Yume, FLOYA are back today with their second post-album single, In Fiction.
For the first time in the band’s career, In Fiction features guest artists: Australian musician and producer AIRPORTS and UK-based Grumble Bee, the solo project of Jack Bennett, also known as the lead vocalist of Lonely The Brave.
The collaboration came together organically. FLOYA had been following AIRPORTS’ career for a while — unaware that he frequently splits his time between London and Castrop-Rauxel, not far from FLOYA’s studio.
AIRPORTS (Aaron Lee) adds:
“When I first heard FLOYA’s music I was like, ‘WTF THIS IS SO BEAUTIFUL’ - I instantly became a fan. Little did I know, Phil and Marv had also discovered me. When Phil reached out, we realized we saw eye to eye creatively. We met up in Germany and began working on In Fiction. Both FLOYA and I share this love for electronic music while being rooted in rock. Our projects try to bridge that gap — it’s cool to work with some other ‘black sheep’ of the genre!”
The track also features vocals from Grumble Bee AKA Jack Bennett of Lonely The Brave, who Phil had admired for nearly a decade.
Jack Bennett (Grumble Bee) recalls:
“When Phil messaged me, I honestly thought it was a joke! Being part of In Fiction was a blast — it was outside my usual work in LTB or my solo music and I loved the challenge. The songwriting showcases everyone’s individuality in a really compelling way. ”
As for the song itself, In Fiction began as a cinematic concept in Phil’s home studio. “I imagined someone waking from a dream so vivid, they believed it was their real life,” Phil explains.
“Imagine living an entire lifetime, only to wake up in a house you barely recognise, surrounded by people you’ve never met — and all your loved ones gone, because they never truly existed. That arc was so enticing, I had to turn it into a song.”
