Giant Drag Are Back!
GIANT DRAG ARE BACK!!!
“Riddled with credibility, sexiness, sass and sizzling star quality” - NME
Giant Drag are the American indie rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 2003 by singer and guitarist Annie Hardy.
The band released their first EP ‘Lemona’ in 2005 on UK tastemaker label ‘Wichita Records’ which led to a record deal with ‘Kickball/Interscope’ who later went on to release the album ‘Hearts and Unicorns’ for the band, to much critical acclaim from the likes of NME, Pitchfork and The Guardian to name but a few.
Giant Drag then took a break from the limelight before deciding to make a comeback in 2013 and self-release ‘Waking Up Is Hard to Do’ with a vinyl release by Canadian DIY label ‘Yeah! Right Records’.
In 2020, Annie wrote and recorded a third album with Klaxons front man Jamie Reynolds.
Now for the first time in many years it is with great excitement that we can announce that GIANT DRAG are back with a brand new release ‘SBHM’ (Ava’s Theme).
‘SBHM (Ava’s Theme)’ is a grunge-fuelled indie rock banger with fuzzing guitars and pounding drums overlaid with Annie’s unmistakable haunting lyricism.
It’s dark and brooding yet cleverly injected with Annie’s unique ability to turn what some might consider taboo into a catchy and undeniably infectious melody that’ll have you hooked.
The GIANT DRAG line up features the ever present Annie Hardy on Guitar and Vocals, Collin Deatherage on drums and with guest instrumentals and bass from Jamie Reynolds (Klaxons).
The track also features The ‘Margate Homeless Men’s Choir’ as Annie calls it made up of Barns Courtney (signed Virgin artist) , Collin Deatherage (Giant Drag), Jamie Reynolds (Klaxons) and Jason Stafford (sound engineer extraordinaire - The Libertines/Jamie T/Sportsteam/Trampolene)
The track was written by Annie Summer Hardy and Collin Deatherage and it was recorded at The Albion Rooms, Margate (The Libertines recording studio) and it was Produced by Jamie Reynolds (Klaxons) and was engineered by in-house, award winning sound engineer, Jason Stafford.
The track is being released on Full Psycho Records which coincidentally also celebrates its 13th Birthday on the single release day.
When asked for a quote surrounding the song, Annie commented in true Annie style:-
“I feel like the mystery is better ….”
