July 11, 2025 - Portland, Oregon duo Glitterfox today announce their debut album Decoder, due out August 22 via Jealous Butcher Records. Produced by Chris Funk of The Decemberists, the album is a bold, genre-blurring collection that fuses garage rock, new wave, southern Americana, and pop into a sound that is singularly, inimitably Glitterfox. The group will play a series of UK shows in support of the album’s release, including London’s Green Note on July 1 and Maverick Festival July 4-July 6.
Led by frontperson Solange Igoa and guitarist Andrea Walker (both they/them), Glitterfox have been collaborators — and until recently, partners — for over a decade. Though the couple amicably split after 12 years together, their musical connection remains undiminished. “When I’m singing Andrea’s songs, I can feel the emotions they were feeling,” says Igoa. “We’re experiencing this life together.” Walker adds: “Solange is my voice.”
Lifted from the album, “Wildfires,” is out today — an emotionally charged anthem inspired by '80s new wave and queer romance. Listen / Watch “Wildfires”
Decoder reflects the pair’s personal and creative evolution, tracing a journey of self-discovery, identity, and transformation. “Of course I have a lot of feelings,” Igoa says. “When Andrea and I first started playing music together, I was a completely different person. I didn’t really know a lot about myself yet. Through our experiences together, I’ve learned to be unapologetically myself. We both have.”
Glitterfox formed in Long Beach, CA in 2012 and released a string of acclaimed EPs and singles — including several for Kill Rock Stars — before relocating to Portland, Oregon. There, they met producer and mentor Chris Funk of The Decemberists, who is now both their producer and manager.
Renowned for their powerful, inclusive live shows, Glitterfox also founded Portland’s indie festival Glitterfest in 2019 — which doubled as their wedding.
