Following the release of his seventh studio album A Modern Day Distraction last year, Jake Bugg is back with a very special deluxe repack of the celebrated record, which comes October 24th on Lovebugg. Alongside the announcement comes new single ‘Never Said Goodbye’.
The first new track from the deluxe release, ‘Never Said Goodbye’ is Jake at his most heartfelt. A poignant, soul-baring anthem, the guitar driven track is delicately draped in strings and acts as an antidote to the sadness that first inspired it. “‘Never Said Goodbye’ is about losing someone close unexpectedly, which affects a lot of us,” Jake said of the track. “It’s happened to me, so it’s a song that means a lot personally.“ Listen to ‘Never Said Goodbye’ HERE & watch the video HERE.
Featuring four brand new tracks including new single ‘Never Said Goodbye (Single Version),’ ‘Oblivious’, ‘Too Late Now’ and ‘Feels Like The Sunshine’ A Modern Day Distraction Deluxe Edition will be released on deluxe CD with 16 page booklet, white vinyl and digitally. “After we released the album we realised we weren’t finished creatively so we headed back in the studio and made more tracks,” Jake said of the deluxe release. “All of these would have gone on the original, so we’re releasing a deluxe version that feels more like the complete record.“
13 years and seven albums into his career, A Modern Day Distraction cements Jake as one of the UK’s most established and enduring songwriters in the UK. Recorded at Metrophonic Studios in London and produced by Mark Taylor and Paul Mascall, the very special repack features four brand new tracks and will be released on vinyl, CD and digitally. An album that saw Jake return to his roots, A Modern Day Distraction shines a light on the injustice Jake seen dealt to the family and friends he grew up with. Fiery and engaged, the record was born out of a frustration of societal inequality.
Still only 31 years old and with a discography well beyond his years in his armoury, Jake is just as relevant as ever. Still filling venues the world over, the best is yet to come.
