Darren James Smith Brings John Rhodes’ New Rock Single “Show Me” to Life – Out Friday 22nd August

Rock songwriter John Rhodes is set to release his latest creation, “Show Me,” on Friday 22nd August, with powerhouse vocals delivered by Canadian rock veteran Darren James Smith.

Best known for his work with the acclaimed melodic rock band Harem Scarem, Darren’s career has spanned decades of high-energy performances, acclaimed albums, and global tours. As Harem Scarem’s longtime drummer and backing vocalist, Darren helped shape the band’s signature sound — an electrifying blend of hard rock, AOR, and progressive influences. His contributions to albums such as Mood Swings, Voice of Reason, and Karma Cleansing cemented his reputation as both a dynamic musician and a commanding vocalist, with the band achieving international success and building a devoted fan base across Europe and Japan.

Beyond Harem Scarem, Darren has fronted his own bands and brought his powerhouse vocals and percussion skills to a wide range of rock projects. His unmistakable voice is the driving force behind “Show Me” — a song written by John Rhodes that fuses gritty storytelling with pure rock energy.

“Show Me” is a high-octane anthem built on soaring riffs, a blistering guitar solo, and a chorus that dares the listener: ‘Well if you can, show me… me.’ The song tells the fictional story of a desperate criminal scheming to outrun justice, blending cinematic themes with raw musical fire.

“Darren was the perfect voice for this track,” says Rhodes. “He brings the kind of power and intensity that makes the story leap off the page and straight into the listener’s bones.”

With Darren James Smith’s commanding delivery and John Rhodes’ uncompromising songwriting, “Show Me” is both classic and fresh, a bold statement of rebellion, attitude, and rock ‘n’ roll fire.

“Show Me” is a rebellious rock anthem that follows the frantic escape of a criminal who is determined to avoid justice. Blending punchy guitar riffs and driving drums with a snarling vocal delivery, the track captures the desperation, denial, and defiance of a man running from the consequences of his actions.

The first verse kicks off with a surge of adrenaline, inviting the listener into a dangerous game of impulse and abandon. It is a different kind of meeting where the stakes are high and the rules no longer apply. It marks the beginning of a chase, both literal and psychological.

The chorus is a repeated dare: “Well if you can, show me.” It is a taunt to those hunting him and a challenge to the world to prove who he really is beneath the headlines. It pulses with tension and ego, serving as a battle cry from someone refusing to be defined by accusation.

In the second verse, the pressure mounts. Blame is closing in, but he mocks the wanted posters and distances himself from the image they have created. With a nasty reputation that he fully leans into, he books a flight out, choosing escape over accountability and freedom over guilt.

“Show Me” will be available on all major streaming platforms.
