Lebanese post hardcore outfit GLIDDEEE return with single ‘INHALER’

After nearly a full year since their debut single, “SUPERTASTEUR,” Lebanese post hardcore band GLIDDEEE comes back with fierce force with their blistering new  single “INHALER,” which will be released on the 12th of December from their  upcoming EP “Kinetic Flaw.” Written as an almost hopeless journey through bouts of  sickness experienced by the singer, Marco Bazerji, passed through within a  worldview of inherent hostility and, at times, lonesomeness.

A triple feature of hardcore, shoegaze, and post-rock, brought together by a  monologue emblematic of the band's writing. It’s kicked off by a grainy sample of  what appears to be a CPAP machine’s noises, actually created by an old film  camera, immediately imposing themes of difficulty breathing and fighting against it.  With an intense first half illustrating the senses within a world that feels like it's  watching you die, a partnership is encapsulated by “The blood-soaked sun cries as  we melt through its rays / Thorns from our lungs punctured in as we fucking strolled.”  The track’s second half brings in a sense of fragile hope, quickly brought back full  circle—shattered: “But soon turned dark with no doubts, no second-guessing, waiting  with no care, / No pondering if I’ll go either above or below.” Truly breathless, noisy,  and imposing, blending distorted and at times lo-fi sound with crystal-clear interludes  and interjections. Here, the guitar’s chest-stabbing high ends are contrasted and built  by the bass and drums’ hard thumping, like a protesting heartbeat, alive still as the  song goes on.

These weigh on the band and listener: the hostile instability of the environment and  country, a place where you can’t sit still but moving forever could kill you all the  same. We are forcibly adjusted to shifts like these, torn apart and put back together,  losing something to gain another, and fighting for what’s left—the distorted sounds  leading between themselves and bouts of clarity. Both are representative of internal  conflict and the ever-shifting situation in Lebanon, as it slips between crisis, war, and  destruction of home. A true reminder of what it means not to breathe.

"INHALER" is available on all streaming platforms, and their debut EP, "Kinetic  Flaw," will be released by the end of the year, featuring the previous singles and  closing the chapter on a new beginning.

Bio

GLIDDEEE is a Lebanese post-hardcore/indie rock band blending the grittiest parts  of shoegaze, post-rock, and noise-punk into a whole sound. Each member takes part  in the composition, creating a genre-diverse and full-bodied soundscape, setting  themselves apart from their peers. In fully embracing a dirty, imperfect sound in a  scene saturated with polished production and dreamier motifs, GLIDDEEE engages  with grounded and free expression reminiscent of ideas resonant in the older punk  environment: uncompromising but still truthful to their ethic.

With Marco Bazerji's unconventional writing and composing, Chris Aoun's loud and  consistent tonality, Ali Hamdar's groovy-driven bass, and Elizabeth Aboujaoude's  punchy rhythms on drums, they put together a sound pushing far beyond the  Lebanese punk spaces they take part in. Since the band's first live performance, they  quickly gained a reputation for their unpredictable stage antics and abrasive yet  emotive sound. As the first openers of “Dajjeh,” Lebanon’s biggest showing of  underground punk, they participated in broadcasting that style, as it hadn’t been in a  long time.

Their debut single, "SUPERTASTEUR," released in January of this year, already  helped establish GLIDDEEE in the Beirut music scene. The band is currently  preparing to release their upcoming EP "KINETIC FLAW," recorded by Joy  Moughanni at Tunefork Studios, at the end of this year in order to begin a new  chapter in their journey as a band.
