Debut Album, Welcome To Music City

Coming 6th February 2026

It's almost time to get rockin' around the Christmas tree, and Music City have gifted us the perfect soundtrack for merry making this December. "Only Home For Christmas" is an instant festive classic, with duelling guitars, a sprinkling of seasonal heartbreak, and more bells than Santa's sleigh.

Music City's frontman and songwriter, Conor Lumsden, shares: "We went all in on this one — jingle bells and jangle guitars, baritone saxes, timpani. It’s a proper Christmas song: half Phil Spector, half The Office Christmas Special. It’s the flush of happiness that comes with the acceptance of a hangover and a lean January. It’s got that classic feel — like something you’d find on a charity shop Christmas compilation and assume had always existed. It feels instantly familiar, even if you’re hearing it for the first time."

"Only Home For Christmas" will be released digitally and as a limited flexi disc Christmas tree decoration - preorder here.

Dublin-born, London-based Music City is the solo project from Conor Lumsden, also of Irish faves The Number Ones. The band will be releasing debut album Welcome to Music City in February on Redundant Span Records, a record connecting Lumsden's favourite dots between the fifties and now, within the great expanse of rock’n’roll. “There are echoes of Buddy Holly and The Beatles, then into T. Rex, Elton John, Big Star, Todd Rundgren, Carole King, Steely Dan, Judee Sill, The Clash, Tom Petty.. At its best, rock’n’roll isn’t an intellectual pursuit at all, just pure excitement and magic.”

Welcome To Music City follows a sold-out single, the cult favourite “Pretty Feelings (via Static Shock Records a couple of years ago), which quickly became a wedding-floor staple of punks the world round. Conor's music has had spins on BBC 6 Music with Iggy Pop and Cillian Murphy, as well as support from WFMU in the U.S.
