Nogu Svelo! Release New Single ‘Scared Of Being Afraid’ - Out Now
Nogu Svelo!, the legendary punk rock band originally formed in Russia and now based in the United States, are set to release their new single ‘Scared Of Being Afraid’ on August 25.
Known for their energetic sound and fearless political stance, the band continues to use music as a force for change, raising awareness about the ongoing war in Ukraine and standing against oppression.
Fresh off the sixth leg of their world tour — which included 65 gigs across 64 cities in Europe, Asia, North and South America — Nogu Svelo! have brought their music to a global audience while raising $100,000 for Ukraine through their performances.
With a career spanning 35 years, the band first emerged in 1988 as part of the Moscow Rock Laboratory. Since then, they’ve released 16 full-length albums, 71 official music videos, and earned multiple awards across Russia and Europe, including MTV Russia’s Best Soundtrack Award.
Now fully based in the U.S., Nogu Svelo! perform English-language versions of their biggest hits alongside new material recorded with their American lineup.
Frontman Max Pokrovskiy — lead singer, bassist, and principal songwriter — has long been an outspoken critic of Vladimir Putin’s regime. His support for Alexei Navalny and anti-war stance led to a ban on performing in Russia. Since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Pokrovskiy has released ten anti-war anthems, many of which appear on the album Amputation.
Beyond their musical output, Nogu Svelo! have received international recognition for politically charged music videos such as ‘Prison Romance’ and ‘Happy New Year, My Son’, which have been featured at festivals including DOC LA, Los Angeles Cinematography Awards (LACA), Cinema World Fest Awards, and the New York State International Film Festival.
Their humanitarian efforts include fundraising for World Unite for Ukraine via an online concert, supporting a refugee shelter in Tbilisi, participating in the GCI Planet Charity Event, raising funds for ambulances through Zeilen van Vrijheid, contributing to a mobile hospital via a charity talk show in Cyprus, and supporting a children’s hospice in Ukraine during a performance in Amsterdam.
In August 2023, Nogu Svelo! performed at the first independent anti-war film festival, AWIIFF, delivering a powerful open-air concert for over 1,000 attendees in Estonia.
The band continues to stand against war, censorship, and tyranny, using music as a rallying cry for freedom.
