Brighton indie specialist Opal Mag announces signing to Venn Records (High Vis, thistle., Meryl Streek) and shares brand new track ‘Wasting’, out today (November 13th).
Fostering influences from acts including Mazzy Star, The Sundays, The Breeders, and The Smashing Pumpkins, Opal Mag blends hazy, atmospheric soundscapes with confessional, unfiltered lyricism. Writing for the dreamers and the bedroom dwellers, her songs feel like secrets whispered late at night; raw, intimate, and achingly real.
With recent supports alongside acts including Black Honey, Overpass and Phoebe Green, and several 2026 live dates ready to be unveiled for the coming months, the musician’s early releases have already earned plaudits from tastemakers such as Stereogum, Clash, So Young Magazine and Under The Radar, as well as spins across the BBC 6 Music (Emily Pilbeam), KEXP (Cheryl Waters) and Triple J (Colby Robertson) airwaves.
Detailing her latest release, the indie riser explained: “‘Wasting’ is a message to a detached, avoidant lover. Will they stay around to be the kind of person I need, leave, or - worse - linger with non-committal disappointment? The song captures the realisation of a relationship fated to end, having wasted both people’s time.”
Opal Mag’s ‘Wasting’ is out now and available on all digital platforms.
