Saiphon is releasing ‘Antidote’ on 06/09/25!
On 6th September, 2025, Saiphon (/say:fon/) will be releasing their new single: 'Antidote'.
The track shows another side of the band, taking inspiration from pop-punk artists such as Green Day and MGK. It's a power chord-driven emotional confession of hopelessness, with lyrics that compare changing as a person to killing oneself - all with the intention of being the right person for somebody else.
Saiphon is a four-piece rock band based in West Sussex, who take their inspiration from rock giants such as AC/DC and Aerosmith. Lead singer, Bennie Hayfield from Birmingham, is a former musical theatre student turned rock'n'roll frontman by a hunger for freedom in performance combined with his love for music by artists like The Beatles, Elton John and Ozzy Osbourne. Thanks to his variety of influences Bennie has not only developed a sizable vocal range but can also demonstrate versatility in style which shines in this track. Aidan Brion, hailing from the Mediterranean territory of Gibraltar, started his performing career in acoustic groups with a notable performance at "The Weekender" festival. Now he rocks the role of lead guitar, crafting roaring solos and blasting out killer riffs. Jude Parker, from Portsmouth, provides the bassline for the band; heavily inspired by prog rock groups such as Rush, he brings nuance and colour to each track. As a psychology student he was a surprise member of the group, stepping in last minute to save our very first gig and soon after becoming a crucial cog in the rhythm machine. However, the heartbeat of the band is provided by the drummer, Nicola Oakley. Inspired by a fusion of classic rock and classical music, she brings a creative flair to the songwriting process. Coming from the Thames-side village of Cookham, she has a wide range of experience musically, from classical orchestras, playing either percussion or viola, to musical theatre pits.
