SINGLE REVIEW: Oliver Anderson - Money (Life)
The thrills of Travelling the world doesn’t stop South London’s Indie Rock artist, Oliver Anderson bringing larger-than-life tracks that share our frustrations with the rat race and relatable experiences of life.
Money (Life) is a snappy, country-blues-esque track that really gives the middle finger to capitalism. And after our previous review of his work, I’m always excited to get my hands on new works from this humble and determined artist.
I find it quite ironic that although I'm a little late to get on the bandwagon because of my own stresses with the corporate grind, Money (Life) is the cure I needed and an inspiration to get back into what really matters.
I love that guitars hook you in, they are gritty and build anticipation and suddenly burst with electrical inspiration. The drums provide a tight and driven beat and bass subtly pulsates. The vocals hold authority, and is the drive behind that unforgettable chorus, it really forces you to weigh up what really matters and makes you question; Are you in it for the job, money and the grind? or for enriching experiences, culture, art and life?
Although a short track, it is to the point and scratches that itch that the listener didn’t know they had. It is vibrant and encouraging, with colourful solos that sit in the background until the final chorus that really shines in the spotlight. The overall writing of this track is on-point and highlights strengths of every instrument. I love that there are small moments and breaks to hear all of them individually and the subtle use of cinematics really pave gravity to vocals and lyrics (cocking gun).
10/10 Gave me the kick I needed, so, to return the favour, let’s keep the hype up for this track! :)
