South Korean quartet Say Sue Me share the second single from their new EP Time Is Not Yours (out on 30 April via Damnably). “In This Mess" is a bass-heavy post-punk stomper, channeling the thunderous energy of Prolapse or Steve Hanley-era The Fall.
The bands will embark on their first UK tour since 2019 in May, where they will be playing several dates around the country including Bristol, Manchester, Hebden Bridge, Glasgow and London, with a stint at The Great Escape in Brighton.
The Time Is Not Yours EP is a masterclass in contrasts, a shoegaze-slacker hybrid that balances hazy, reverb-drenched guitars with a touch of coastal cool, all while carrying a quiet undercurrent of unease and introspection. The songs reflect the band’s musings on the importance of preserving mental health and focusing on self care, whilst having intense work and tour schedules. As they explain: "Lately, time’s been on our minds—how it slips away, how we chase it, how it stresses us out. Instead of letting it weigh us down, we turned it into songs. After years of non-stop hustle, we took our first real break in early 2024. That space gave us room to breathe, reflect, and create. It’s a snapshot of us figuring things out, one riff at a time.”
"In This Mess" follows the release of the single “Vacation (feat. Kim Hanjoo)” (you can watch the video here), which blends buoyant Brit-pop swagger with laid-back slacker cool. Kim Hanjoo, from Korean powerhouse band Silica Gel, lends his vocals to the track, adding a sharp counterpoint to Say Sue Me’s singer Sumi.
