Swansea’s SWAN HILL share new single ‘Longhorn’
SWAN HILL are a band from Swansea that have been crafting their signature blend of fuzzed out, 90s tinged, slacker power-pop on small stages across the UK since 2021.
Combining a love of Jazzmasters, obscure guitar pedals and US Indie rock, the band have been described by some as like watching The Beach Boys cover Guided By Voices songs after several craft beers.
Swan Hill gained press attention from the likes of Louder Than War with their 2022 single ‘Unlucky’, mixed and mastered by Tom Rees of Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard.
This was then followed up with 2023’s double A-Side, ‘Rosebud/Landlines’ (mastered by Bob Cooper), which was released with a headline show at the legendary Clwb Ifor Bach.
2024 saw the band release their debut EP, ‘DISCOUNT ADVICE’. A tightly knit collection of songs that accurately represents the band’s live set, recorded with an authentic, Albini-tinged rawness. Like a lost 90s EP you’ve stumbled upon at your local record store, the 5 tracks are crammed with Big Muff solos, emotive vocals, and all the vibes to make you feel like you’re in a Blockbusters in an old flannel shirt.
Support slots for the likes of Trust Fund, Melys and Danny Mellin followed, along with (possibly accidental) Australian village radio endorsement.
Swan Hill return this year like some sort of migratory bird species capable of carrying a Fender Twin Reverb, and equipped with a fresh batch of songs. The first of these, ‘LONGHORN’, is a song that is probably about American sports, combining a healthy dose of 90s indie rock vibes with character based lyrical storytelling that Ray Davies would have been proud of if he enjoyed watching the PGA.
Swan Hill. Your new favorite cult classic band.
