Hammond organ-fuelled grooves grazed with sandpaper guitars, stout basslines and earthquaking beats meet The Spitfires’ frontman and singer, Billy Sullivan’s impassioned insights into lonely self-destruction on the band’s latest single, I’ll Never – OUT NOW. Intoxicated by the outpourings of passionate belief that has met the band as they’ve toured through spring and summer this year, the latest track from their upcoming, sixth album deals with the headrush and crash of addiction.

Purposely dismantled and determinedly rebuilt, the release of the band’s upcoming, 11-track rude return to health, titled MKII and released on Fri 3 October 2025 on Bellevue Music Recordings, dries the paint on The Spitfires’ latest against-all-odds masterpiece. Having bid a fond farewell to fans in an amicable, public break-up in 2022, a rejuvenated Sullivan has led a new line-up into a determined period of reconnection with the fans from the stage, including their sold-out return to London to play Koko in Camden in May.

Hitting Germany for a brace of shows in Dortmund and Hamburg, the band’s continental links and ambitions run keenly alongside their continued, emboldened presence at home, where a run of three, intimate tour warm-up shows in the band’s home town of Watford ignites the blue-touch paper ahead of MKII’s release. That trio of consecutive shows at Johnny’s Bar, starting on Fri 19 September 2025 also precede a special release night show at 229 London.

While the progression of the band from prototype to well-oiled machine to new, turbo-propelled version has been heard through previous 2025 singles, Better The Devil You Know and Where Did We Go Wrong?, the constant factor is Sullivan’s determination to set musical passions side-by-side-with purpose. Raising the flag for guitar music as high as it can go, alchemising ska and reggae influences with mod, punk and classic indie, whilst showing no fear in bringing incisive social commentary to the table.

Sullivan reflects on the track, accompanied with a video shot by renowned music photographer, Lawrence Watson, by saying:

“This track tells the story of someone who numbs their pain with alcohol and drugs instead of opening up about what they’re going through. These ‘vices’ are used as an escape, but the real issues never actually go away. There’s still a huge stigma, especially among men, around talking about mental health. I’m not preaching. I’m probably not all that different myself.”

Released on CD, digital and limited edition 12” vinyl formats, with the latter in three different colour variants (red, blue and yellow) and the first 200 of each colour fully signed by the band. MKII was recorded at studios in Leeds, Manchester and Chelmsford. Supported by designer, Graham Murdoch, Sullivan pulled together a run of his own shots from a visit to Berlin to pursue a vision inspired by legendary artist, Barney Bubbles and his era-defining work with Elvis Costello, Billy Bragg and The Blockheads.

“I probably wouldn’t have seen even a quarter of the places I’ve visited if it weren’t for the band,” continues Sullivan. “That kind of travel only really happens through music… or maybe by following a football team everywhere. I wanted the visuals to reflect that same sense of openness, to make a visual connection with Europe. Even the seat pattern from the Berlin U-Bahn made its way into the inner sleeve.”

With the line-up completed by Liam Taylor (guitar), Sam Dimond (bass) and Euan Crawford-McKee (drums), The Spitfires are set to explore their six-albums-rich potential set-list further over a run of recently-announced UK tour dates to coincide with the release of MKII.
