underscores Releases New Song "Music" & Video via Mom+Pop
Mom+Pop recording artist underscores releases her new song and video today; “MUSIC”. Recorded in Chicago, Oslo, Copenhagen Amsterdam and Glasgow, “MUSIC” was written, produced, performed and mixed by underscores, and mastered by Heba Kadry.
After shaking up the hyperpop landscape with her genre-defying 2023 album Wallsocket, underscores, aka April Harper Grey, “Music” promises to further cement her role as one of the most innovative voices in experimental pop.
Known for fusing raw emotionality with fractured sonics, "Music" pushes her artistry into even more unpredictable and immersive territory.
If Wallsocket was her magnum opus of suburban surrealism, mixing pop-punk grit, emo vulnerability, and chaotic electronica, this upcoming release "Music" is an evolution of that same ethos.
Independent from her inception, underscores chose to stay independent while inking a deal with Mom+Pop Music. In addition to Wallsocket, she debuted “Count of three (You can eat $#@!)” – co-written with Dylan Brady (of 100 Gecs), Cashmere Cat, and Benny Blanco – on 100 Gecs’ imprint. With the exception of collabs, underscores writes, records, and produces her music entirely one hundred percent on her own. This is her first new solo release since September 2023.
Having methodically built her following over the years, underscores has garnered over 42 million Global streams across platforms. She sold out her 2022 debut headline tour and has graced festival stages, including Lollapalooza, Corona Capital CDMX, Electric Forest, and FVDED in the Park.
The critically acclaimed artist who defies musical categories has been lauded by The Atlantic, Rolling Stone, and Fader, among many others. The mystery that surrounds her is intentional, for underscores as she creates music for her generation.
